Paul Simon – Professional Career

Simon’s musical career began off at the age of eleven, when he performed with Simon and Garfunkel in a ‘Alice in Wonderland’ play.

They began performing as a rock duo under the name ‘Tom and Jerry’ from then on.

‘Our Song’ and ‘That’s My Story’ were two of the duo’s early hits.

Clive Davis, a Columbia Records executive, signed the duo for an album in 1964 after they pleased him.

Columbia Records signed the duo and issued their first extended play, ‘Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M.,’ under their real name.

Regrettably, the record did not fare well on the music charts.

Simon traveled to Europe after his debut album’s failure.

He worked with Bruce Woodley of the Australian rock band ‘The Seekers’ there.

They collaborated on several tracks, including “Red Rubber Ball,” “I Wish You Could Be Here,” and “Cloudy.”

When he returned to the United States, a producer named Tom Wilson reworked his debut album and released it as a single called “The Sound of Silence.”

The album was a huge success. Its second volume, ‘The Sounds of Silence,’ was issued, and Simon collaborated with Garfunkel once more.

Following the release of their second album, the team had a string of chart-topping singles. Meanwhile, they contributed to the music of Mike Nichols’ legendary film, ‘The Graduate,’ which became a worldwide hit.

Simon and Garfunkel were labeled as one of the most popular and influential duos of the era after having back-to-back singles.

Their collaboration began to deteriorate as they hit new musical heights.

The album reached the top of the music charts thanks to its unique songwriting style.

The title tune became a youth cultural anthem.

Simon and Garfunkel split up and went on to have successful careers in other industries.

Simon remained committed to his music career and began attempting to add new layers to rock music.

Simon released a self-titled solo album in 1972, which includes songs such as “Mother and Child Reunion” and “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard.”

The tracks gave rise to a new type of music that was distinct from his prior efforts and received amazing accolades from critics who were first dubious.

Simon began working in the film industry in 1980. Inspired by the presence of Woody Allen in the film ‘Annie Hall’, Simon wrote and starred in his movie, ‘One-Trick Pony’.

He also composed the film’s soundtrack.

The film bombed at the box office, but its music produced the popular tune “Late in the Evening.”

All of these were also commercial successes. He was also a long-time fan of the TV show “Saturday Night Live.”

He has appeared on the show roughly 15 times so far.
