Ralph Carter’s acting career began at the age of nine, when he made his Broadway debut in the musical “The Me Nobody Knows” (1970), and was followed by appearances in such Broadway plays as “Tough To Get Help,” “Dude,” and “Via Galactica,” all in 1972.

His big break came when he was cast as Travis Younger in “Raisin,” a Broadway musical based on Lorraine Hansberry’s play “A Raisin In The Sun.” He received positive reviews for the role, which earned him the 1973 Drama Desk Award for Most Promising Performer, the 1974 Theatre World Award, and a Tony Award nomination for Best Supporting or Featured Actor in a Musical in 1974.

Ralph’s career took a step forward in 1974 when he gained the attention of producers and directors who gave him a role on television. Following that, he was cast as Michael Evans in the CBS television series “Good Times,” which aired until 1979. He appeared in almost 130 episodes, boosting not only his popularity but also his net worth significantly.
