Rich Vos was born Richard Ira Vos on June 30, 1957, in Plainfield, New Jersey, a predominantly black neighborhood where he was raised.

He was raised in a Jewish family and was still a child when his parents divorced.

Much is unknown about his academic background, but it is assumed that he never finished high school. As a child, he was fascinated by standup comedy, which he saw on television, particularly on the Ed Sullivan Show.

Rich Vos: Professional Career

His stand-up comedy career began in local clubs in 1984. He claims that he decided to pursue comedy full-time after failing at everything else.

Def Comedy Jam was an HBO show that featured African American comedians, but Rich Vos was the first Caucasian to perform on the show in 1995.

He considers the Woodstock ’99 festival, which he hosted in July 1999, to be the pinnacle of his career.

In 2001, he appeared on British television in The People vs. Jerry Sadowitz show, performing a skit he wrote.

His stand-up comedy album, I’m Killing Here, was released the same year. Vos, his DVD, was also released in 2004.

He appeared on Comedy Central Presents, where he created a two-and-a-half-hour special.

In the first season of Last Comic Standing, which aired on NBC in 2003, he finished third.
