Oberst tried out for the NFL after graduating from university in 2008, but he didn’t make the cut.
He subsequently became a bouncer in a nightclub, when one of his employees exposed him to the world of Strongman events.
After only four months of training, Oberst obtained his Pro-Card. In 2012, he won the San Jose Git Expo and the Dallas Europa.
The next year, he finished third in America’s Strongest Man competition.
In 2013, he also won Odd Haugen’s US Open MAS Wrestling Championship and Giants Live Las Vegas.
Oberst hasn’t won a competition since 2013, but he was the runner-up in America’s Strongest Man in 2013 and 2014.
He finished third in the Arnold Strongman Classic Australia in 2015. In addition, he finished eighth in the World’s Strongest Man competition in 2018.
Oberst also competed for the United States in World’s Strongest Man in 2019 and 2020 but did not win the title.
