Pearson, a star MMA fighter, first appeared on the tv reality show The Ultimate Fighter: United States vs. United Kingdom in 2009, where he won the bout and finished first in the lightweight division.

Ross earned the Fight of the Night title against Dennis Siver on March 31, 2010 at the UFC fight night: Florian versus Gomi event in Charlotte, US.

Later, in 2011, he fought three battles, two of which he won and one of which he lost to Edson Barboza.

Pearson was named Team UK coach for The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes in 2012. 

He won the fight by TKO in the third round.

Pearson met Melvin Guillard at UFC Fight Night 30 on October 26, 2013, and the fight ended in a no contest after Pearson was cut on the forehead with an unintentional illegal knee.

On June 7, 2014, he competed with Diego Sanchez through Split verdict, but that verdict was incorrect, thus he petitioned the New Mexico Athletic Commission to re-arrange the match as per UFC rules. 

Pearson was later awarded $30,000 as an unofficial win bonus by UFC president Dana.

Pearson competed in a three-match in 2015, winning two fights against Sam Stout and Paul Felder and losing one to Evan Dunham.

Pearson was scheduled to meet Abel Trujillo at UFC Fight Night on March 20, 2016. 

Trujillo, on the other hand, was removed from the card on March 12 due to suspected visa complications that prevented him from entering Australia. 

As a result, Pearson faced Chad Laprise and won a close decision. 

Pearson was set to face off against Joseph Duffy in 2018. 

Pearson, on the other hand, stated that he would be withdrawing from the fight owing to a fractured nose and subsequent surgery to repair the damage.
