Composer, conductor, teacher, and member of the American Classical Music Hall of Fame. He wrote over 400 pieces that were comprised of five operas, six symphonies, eight string quartets, 11 concerti, and many other works. Samuel Adler was born on March 4, 1928, in Mannheim, Germany.

He and Yo-Yo Ma, along with being contemporaries, were both inducted into the American Classical Music Hall of Fame, Ma in 2007 and Adler in 2008. He established the Seventh Army Symphony Orchestra while serving in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1952.
