Sandahl grew up in Kansas and developed an early interest in acting. She went to Shawnee Mission East High School, which served the Kansas City suburbs.

She actively participated in performing arts programs during her time there, as the school is known for its extracurricular activities in which students can participate.

After graduating from high school, she remained in Kansas for a few years before relocating to New York City to

pursue a career in entertainment.

As a result, she was able to find work on Broadway, where she appeared in several supporting roles.

She eventually caught the attention of choreographer Bob Fosse, who invited her to work as a replacement dancer on the production of “Pippin.”

The show is based on Middle Ages characters and tells the story of the titular character, a prince in search of significance and meaning.

Following her time there, she was cast as a secondary lead in the stage adaptation of “Gigi.”

It is based on the novella of the same name, which tells the story of a teenage girl growing up in Paris in the twentieth century. She also appeared in the musical “Mack and Mabel.”
