She then worked as a Production intern at WTVS, a Detroit PBS affiliate, where she is in charge of social media and production for WTVS debates.

In the same year, 2010, she worked as a production assistant at Fox Studios, where she edited film, music videos, and magazines, among other things. When she finished her journalism degree and obtained her first position as a reporter at WJLA-TV in 2011, her career as a reporter took a favorable turn.

Whitney covered a variety of stories, one of which resulted in the arrest of a child sex predator. She worked for the channel until 2014 when she left to serve as a reporter and anchor for 9 News at KUSA-TV in Denver.
