He spent his childhood in Gangwon Province, South Korea, in Jeongseon County.
He is the eldest of five siblings.
Won Bin excelled in athletics as a child and possesses a black belt in taekwondo.
He wanted to be a vehicle mechanic because of his enthusiasm for car racing and motorcycling.
Won Bin began his military service in November 2005 and was stationed at the Korean Demilitarized Zone, a job he volunteered for.
On June 2, 2006, the military formally confirmed that Won Bin would no longer be active.
He was released on June 7, 2006, following an ACL injury and subsequent surgery.
He received the 14th KBS Drama Award in the category of “Excellence Award, Actor” for his work in Autumn in My Heart in 2000, as well as the 37th Baeksang Arts Award for “Best New Actor (TV)”.
