Ivan Orkin was born on May 14, 1964, in Long Island, NY. Other professional chefs who have also been featured and profiled in the Netflix series Chef’s Table include Ben Shewry, Francis Mallmann, and Massimo Bottura. His career in the restaurant industry started when he was fifteen and worked as a dishwasher at a sushi bar. He then attended the University of Colorado, Boulder where he studied Japanese.
