Mr. Yohnka began his professional career after being hired as the star of the ‘Wild West Stunt Show’ at Knott’s Berry Farm in Southern California. He had to go through a lot of trials to make a living because he didn’t come from a wealthy family.

He made his living as a security guard at night. ‘The Days of Our Lives’ recorded an episode at Knott’s Berry Farm with actor Josh Taylor centered on ‘The Wagon Camp Stunt Show.’

From 1984 to 1992, Merritt had a recurrent role on ‘Days of Our Lives.’ In the 1980s and early 1990s, he demonstrated his abilities in a number of TV shows and films, including They, Live in 1988, Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III in 1990, and many others.

In 1995, he was cast in the fantasy blockbuster Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. He made an appearance in the Marvel Comics film Captain America: The First Avenger later that year.

Merritt, the legend, left us all in mourning on September 16, 2020, and said his final goodbye to all of his admirers. He passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family and friends at the time of his death.

Merritt was nominated for two Emmy Awards in 2008 and 2009 for his stunt coordination on the television sitcom “Chuck.” Later in 2010, he was nominated for another Academy Award for ‘Chuck,’ this time for ‘Outstanding Stunt Coordination.’

In 2011, he was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for his performance in Motion Pictures on the science-fiction sequel ‘Transformers: Dark of the Moon,’ in the category of ‘Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble.’

He worked as a stunt coordinator on The Shield, Chuck, Pretty Little Liars, Stalker, Supergirl, Marvel’s Runaways, and Lucifer, among others.
