The Minnesota Twins selected him 21st overall in the first round in 1993. 

After graduating, he signed with agent Scott Boras and was picked in the first round of the 1994 amateur draft by the Seattle Mariners.

He joined the St. Paul Saints of the Northern League’s independent Northern League.

Jason and Lowe were transferred by the Port City Roosters to the Red Sox in 1997. 

On September 24th of that year, he made his Major League debut.

For the 2001 season, he signed a three-year contract with Boston and finished with a.293 average, 7 home runs, and 25 RBI in 51 games played.
