Adolfo Calero was born on December 22, 1931 in Nicaragua. He was imprisoned right before Anastasio Garcia was ejected from power in 1979, which he used as a way to prove his opposition to Garcia’s rule. He attended the University of Notre Dame and Syracuse University in the United States, before moving back to Nicaragua and managing a Coca-Cola bottling plant.
