Alex Morgan- Professional Career

Alexandra Morgan, a well-known sports personality, has succeeded despite numerous setbacks and disappointments throughout her career. She began playing soccer with AYSO at a young age.

She began her professional soccer career at the age of 14 when she joined the Cypress Elite team. While playing for the club, she won the U16 Championship and finished third in the U19 Championship. She was offered a spot on the United States Women’s Under-20 National Soccer Team in 2017.

In April 2008, she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury while playing for the team and was unable to play. She joined the California Golden Bears in 2007 while still playing collegiate soccer.

She turned a loss into a tie in the NCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship’s second round by scoring an equalizer with two minutes left in regulation time.

Cal finished her undergraduate career with a 106-point performance. Alex made her CONCACAF Women’s Championship debut at the age of 20 in Puebla, Mexico in 2008.

Alex was the first overall choice in the 2011 WPS Draft by the Western New York Flash. She also joined the Seattle Sounders Women’s team in 2012. She was one of three national team players who joined the Portland Thorns FC for the National Women’s Soccer League’s debut season in 2013.

Alex was implicated in a scandal in 2016 when she and her colleagues asserted and protested about wage discrimination against US Soccer, citing disparities in compensation for players on the women’s and men’s national teams.

After the matter dragged on, Alex and her teammates filed a lawsuit against US Soccer in 2019. She was ejected from a Disney World Park in Florida in October 2017 due to her inappropriate behavior.

She had to apologize for yelling, screaming, and filming and photographing the incident. Later, she was accused of drinking tea after scoring a goal against England on July 2, 2019, and claimed that the move was partly in honor of British ‘Game of Thrones’ actor Sophie Turner.
