A Georgia-born poet whose best-known works include Notes from a Child of Paradise and A Call in the Midst of the Crowd. He taught for many years in Columbia University’s Graduate Writing Program. Alfred Corn was born on August 14, 1943 in Georgia. Harold Bloom was one of the first literary critics to praise and champion Corn’s poetic work. He earned his B.A. in French literature from Emory University in 1965 and subsequently received a master’s degree in the same subject from Columbia University.
