She visited with then-president Barack Obama in 2015 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the passing of the Americans With Disabilities Act at the White House via robot teleconference. She was the first person ever to use a robot to visit the White House. She graduated with her degree in English and sociology from Indiana University at Indianapolis in 1997.
