Professional Career of Alicia Myers

In 1978, Myers moved from her hometown of Detroit to Los Angeles, California to begin her music career. She began her career in 1979 with the band Al Hudson & the Soul Partners.

Releasing the album “Happy Feet” as “Al Hudson and the Partners,” which includes the R&B hit “You Can Do It,” co-written by Myers and featuring her on lead vocals, which went viral and became a big disco hit.

As a result, the group’s name was changed to “One Way featuring Al Hudson” and then to “One Way.” Myers began her solo music recording career in 1981 when MCA Records released the album “Alicia.”

Fortunately, her album reached No. 41 on the Billboard magazine R&B Albums chart, and it included two of her successful singles, “I Want To Thank You” (September 1982) and “Don’t Stop What You’re Doing” (May 1981).
