Lead vocalist of the Egyptian rock band Cairokee. The band gained widespread fame following the onset of the Egyptian revolution in 2011 when they began composing songs about the revolution itself. They have since released almost half a dozen original albums. Amir Eid was born on November 26, 1983, in Cairo, Egypt. In 2012, Cairokee released the YouTube video “Ethbat Makanak” which featured Bassem Youssef. The video commemorated the first anniversary of the Egyptian revolution. He and bandmate Sherif Hawary originally formed an English band in 2003 called Black Star.
