Twentieth-century Nigerian author who is best known for his 1952 novel The Palm-Wine Drinkard. Many of his works, including My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, were based on folk stories of the Yoruba people. Amos Tutuola was born on June 20, 1920, in Nigeria. Musicians Brian Eno and David Bryne named their 1981 album, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, after Tutuola’s 1954 novel of the same title.
