Andrew Kurka, a 13-time medalist and gold medalist in alpine skiing, is engaged to his long-time girlfriend Verónica Quezada. In October 2021, the couple became involved in ring-offering rituals.

Kuka later shared a message of love in a heart-shaped bottle with a ring on his girlfriend’s finger in a photo of the couple smiling and posing for social media.

Kurka proposed to his girlfriend on the beach in Punta Mita, Mexico, while they were both snorkeling.

Andrew’s injuries never went away, and two years after his accident, he began working for his future in skiing, making his debut at the 2010 Winter Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada.

Later, in 2014, in Sochi, Russia, he made his international debut with the paralympic winters and earned a spot on the United States Paralympic squad. He did, however, crash while participating in training prior to traveling to Sochi for the games, injuring his back.

He was re-inducted into the United States Paralympic squad for the 2018 Winter Paralympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, at the beginning of 2018.

Kurka works as a DJ at Country Legend 100.9 in Wasilla, Alaska, during the summers when he is not skiing or playing any winter sports. In 2017, the Classroom Champions recognized him as an athlete mentor. Classroom Champion is a non-profit organization that has collaborated with Paralympic and Olympic athletes, as well as instructors and students.
