According to sources, Lokanath Behera, the former DGP of Kerala, will retire on June 30, 2021. (Wednesday). Anil Kant has been appointed as Kerala’s new DGP (Director General of Police) following his retirement.

The UPSC recommended Kant, B Sandhya, the director-general of Fire and Rescue Services, and Sudesh Kumar, a vigilance director, for the position of DGP.

Anil was chosen for the position by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. According to sources, he will only be in the position for seven months before retiring in January 2022.

After Kant’s retirement in seven months, the government and UPSC intend to appoint DGP Tomin Thachankari as the new DGP.
