Ariel Helwani: Professional Career

Ariel Helwani has served as an MMA Insider for Fox Sports 1 and co-hosted the Sirius XM radio program Fight Club.

In the process of reporting combat sports, he has had to deal with a lot of scandals. For example, he has been barred from all UFC (United Fighting Championships) events for life, and his press credentials were revoked along with two other colleagues on June 4, 2016, for publicizing his return to UFC 200 prior to the announcement.

The offense for which he was banned was considered against the normal procedure. The prohibition, however, was lifted two days later.

In June 2018, the MMA writer joined ESPN, where he will cover the sport across several platforms, present a weekly MMA show, and continue his podcast, The Ariel Helwani Show.

Ariel will also co-host a 30-minute ESPN+ program named Ariel and The Bad Guy with former UFC and current Bellator fighter Chael Sonnen.

While Chael, who is still an active fighter, will provide a unique perspective on many of the topics they will discuss, Ariel, who believes that one does not need to be a pro fighter to excel in sports journalism, particularly in MMA, will provide a balance by employing his veteran style of reportage and news coverage with top-notch interviews.
