Famous for his role in the development of promotional art for films, this illustrator and commercial artist designed the posters for such 1960s movie musicals as West Side Story and My Fair Lady and went on to create artwork for Apocalypse Now and the James Bond feature The Spy Who Loved Me. Bob Peak was born on May 30, 1927 in Colorado. He and his contemporary and fellow artist, Jack Davis, both designed United States postage stamps. After earning a bachelor’s degree in geology from Wichita State University and subsequently fighting in the Korean War, he trained at Los Angeles’ Art Center College of Design.
