Robert “Bob” Schmidt is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from the United States.

Schmidt has performed or recorded with Goldfinger, Chuck Reagan, The Slackers, Gregory Alan Isakov, The Drowning Men, Dropkick Murphys, Frank Turner, Beans on Toast, and The Rev. Peyton’s Big Damn Band over the course of his career.

Schmidt previously played bass in the pop/rock band Nickel, best known for their appearance in the season 2 episode “School Hard” of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in which their songs “Stupid Thing” and “1000 Nights” are played in the Bronze.

Flogging Molly has their own record label, Borstal Beat Records, which they are currently signed to. Their music has appeared on the soundtracks of several video games.

Fender released their first signature-series mandolin in 2012. Schmidt also designed the Robert Schmidt Electric Signature Mandolin, which bears the musician’s name. Schmidt later designed a tenor/plectrum scale signature banjo, which Fender released in 2014.

Musical instrument manufacturer Fender introduced a 2012 electric mandolin model named after and designed by Schmidt.
