His best-known songs include “The Fields Have Turned Brown” and “White Dove.” Carter Stanley was born on August 27, 1925 in Virginia. During the early 1950s, he played with Bill Monroe‘s Bluegrass Boys band. One of his earliest albums, The Stanley Brothers & the Clinch Mountain Boys, was recorded on the Cincinnati-based King music label in the late 1950s.
