Former PGA golfer who won two Champions Tours despite playing cross-handed and needing a golf cart after a parachute accident in 1952. He was inducted into the Florida Sports Hall of Fame in 1987 and the African American Golfers Hall of Fame in 2007. Charles Owens was born on February 22, 1930 in Tampa, FL. His first Senior PGA Tour win came in 1986, with a three-stroke margin over Lee Elder and Don January. He joined the PGA in 1970, and to help him overcome his putting disability, he invented a new putter, which he called the Yip Killer.
