He announced on September 20th, 2018, that he will continue to play for NCAA Division I program Oregon after one more season with Northwest Florida State.

Duarte made his Oregon debut on November 5, 2019, when he played against Fresno State and helped the Ducks win 71-57. He rushed for 31 points and shot 12 of 15 from the field in his junior high season.

He was named Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week the next day. On January 23, 2020, he set an overall record of 30 points, 11 rebounds, eight steals, and a 79-70 victory over USC. The Indiana Pacers selected him in the 13th round of the NBA Draft in 2021.

He signed his contract with the Pacers on August 4th, and he made his debut on August 9th, 2021, with a 94-86 loss to the New York Knicks. On the 20th of October, he made his NBA debut, scoring 27 points and grabbing five rebounds, helping the Pacers set a rookie debut record.
