Chris is an American tennis player who dominated the sport in the mid-1970s to mid-1980s. In the late 1980s, she was still a contender.

In addition to her accuracy and composure, Chris Evert popularized the two-handed backhand stroke. In his youth, Chris was ranked No. 1 in the ‘Under 14’ age group and a Grand Slam semi-finalist.

In 1971, she made her Grand Slam debut at the US Open, when she defeated several seasoned professionals and reached the semi-finals.

She became the youngest player to reach the US Open semifinals. Chris went on to win the Virginia Slims tournament the following year after reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon.

Professional since December 1972, she won her maiden event in March 1973. It was the same year she graduated from high school.

Chris finished 2nd in the 1973 French Open. Also, Chris developed a powerful two-handed backhand and a level of concentration that concerned opponents.
