Professional Career of Clint Eastwood

When he met Chuck Hill in the Army, it was one of his lucky breaks.

Hill had connections in the entertainment world and introduced Eastwood to director of photography Irvine Glassberg, who then introduced him to director Arthur Libin.

Eastwood’s superb looks and movie star appearance impressed Libin.

Eastwood had a lot of talent, so Libin suggested he join an acting class.

Eastwood took the suggestion and started attending auditions. Revenge of the Creature would be his debut cinematic role.

In the western comedy “Ginger Rogers,” he received his first major role.

Eastwood landed a few further roles as a result of this, but it wasn’t until 1959, when he was cast in the television series “Rawhide,” that his career truly took off.

The show lasted six seasons and cemented Eastwood’s reputation as a western legend. Eastwood’s first legendary performance as the “Man with No Name” in Sergio Leone’s “A handful of Dollars” came in 1964.

“For a few more dollars” and “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly” would follow for the character.

The picture cemented Eastwood’s reputation as a western hero, and he went on to feature in films like “Hang em High,” “Paint Your Wagon,” and “Two Mules for Sister Sara.”

He would play another memorable role in the film “Dirty Harry” in 1971.

The film sparked controversy because of its portrayal of law enforcement in the 1970s.

The film was also chastised for its portrayal of the African-American community. Despite some negative press, Dirty Harry went on to become a classic in American cinema.

With “Play Misty For Me,” Eastwood also made his directorial debut.

The plot of the film revolved around an intense love affair.

Despite the fact that the picture was not an economic success, it was a critical darling and demonstrated that Eastwood was more than just an actor.

His decision to direct would pay off later in his career, as he would direct more often than he would act.

In fact, he has won more accolades for directing than for performing.

For the films “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby,” he even won Best Picture Oscars. Eastwood has seven children and has been married twice.
