Cody Eakin – Professional Career

Eakin began his WBAAA career in 2004-05 with the Winnipeg Monarchs Bantam AAA. 

He spent the next two seasons with the Winnipeg Monarchs Bantam AAA. 

Eakin played in the WHL for the Swift Current Broncos from 2006-07 through 2010-11.

He played junior hockey in the Western Hockey League, where he was chosen to the WHL (East) Second All-Star Team twice. 

Eakin began the 2011-12 season with the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, but on November 1, 2011, the Washington Capitals recalled him from Hershey to join the NHL parent team. 

The following day, Eakin made his NHL debut with 13 minutes and 19 seconds of ice time but no points in a 5-4 overtime win over the visiting Anaheim Ducks.

On November 4, 2011, Eakin scored his first NHL goal against Cam Ward of the Carolina Hurricanes. 

On June 22, 2012, he was dealt to the Dallas Stars along with a second-round pick for Mike Ribeiro during the 2012 NHL Draft.

On April 23, 2014, Eakin scored his first NHL playoff goal against Anaheim Ducks goaltender Frederik Andersen. 

The goal proved to be the game-winning goal for the Stars, who went on to win 4-2 and square the series at 2-2. 

Eakin was suspended for four games on December 16, 2016, for charging Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

He is now a member of the Dallas Stars.

Eakin was a member of Canada’s gold-medal-winning team at the 2015 World Championships, where they won the title with a perfect 10-0 record for the first time since 2007. 

He also represented Canada at the 2009 IIHF World U18 Championships, where the team finished fourth, and the 2011 IIHF World U20 Championships, where the team earned the silver medal.
