Professional Career of Craig Federighi

Craig Federighi worked for Steve Jobs at NeXT. He contributes to the development of the Enterprise Objects Framework.

After Apple acquired Next in 1996, he worked for them until 1999. He started working for Ariba, an IT firm.

For ten years, Federighi was the company’s, Chief Technology Officer.

In 2009, he returned to Apple as the head of macOS engineering. In 2012, he was elevated to senior vice president.

Later that year, Scott Forstall left Apple. Later on, his responsibilities were broadened to cover both iOS and Mac Software Engineering.

Then, in 2009, he made his debut on-stage appearance at the World Wide Developer Conference, generally known as WWDC, a significant Apple event.

Bertrand Serlet enlisted his help in introducing Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

He also made an appearance at the ‘Back to the Mac’ event in 2010, where he showcased Mac OS X Lion. Apple hosts the WWDC conference every year.

At the 2016 WWDC, Federighi unveiled iOS 10 and macOS 10.12 “Sierra.”

As a result, he said that OS X, which has been around for 15 years, would be renamed “macOS” to mirror the naming scheme used by iOS, tvOS, and watchOS.
