Two families recalled a 30-year-old pregnant woman and a 35-year-old father

who didn’t know each other but died in the same Broward County supermarket on Friday night.

Delana James and Dayvon Johnson were shot and killed outside a convenience store in

Pompano Beach at 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives.

Surveillance footage shows Johnson collapsing. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue personnel transported a guy

and a teenage boy who was injured to Broward Health North, according to B.S.O. deputies.

The suspect in the Pompano Beach shooting has been apprehended.

Johnson’s mother informed the crowd that her son had been shot four times in the head.

Grieving family members, including Johnson’s children and widow,

stood near candles during the prayer vigil in the convenience store parking lot.

Too many lives have been lost, the man added, not just mine but also that of a young woman who was pregnant.

“We’re going to pray that whoever you are—whether there are one or two of you—

your conscience won’t allow you to sleep any longer, and that God will demand that you turn yourself in.”

According to Broward Sheriff Gregory Tony, who announced the arrest at a news conference on Tuesday,

Damian Charmant, an 18-year-old who was 17 at the time of the event, was held.

Tony said that detective work and common tips enabled him to be identified.
