During his two terms on the council, his input was invaluable in helping the Legislature understand the challenges of local government.

He was the former Workforce Initiatives Program Director at Kirkwood Community College for 23 years.

Following the resignation of Dick Myers, Dave was elected to the Iowa State Representative seat in a special election in 2003. He ran unopposed for office in 2006 and was re-elected with a total of 9,639 votes.

David Jacoby has served on several committees and in various capacities since his election as Iowa representative, including the Chamber of Commerce, where he has served on various committees.

He is also a board member of the Youth Leadership Program, a member of Parents Against Synthetic Drugs, and a member of the Victory Riders Association, among many other organizations.

He is now the STEM Coordinator at the University of Iowa, as well as a Carpenter’s Local 1260 member.

David is a devout Roman Catholic who attends St Thomas More Catholic Church.

Aside from politics David Jacoby is a businessman as well.

He owns a small business called Dave’s Resale, which specializes in estate sales.

In his campaign for re-election to House 30, which includes Coralville, North Liberty, Tiffin, Iowa City, and Penn Township, Dave stated in his manifesto that his top priority was to help middle-class families and small businesses and that in order to do so, he would focus on creating new jobs and balancing the state budget while maintaining his commitment to students from preschool to higher education.

He announced his intention to run for re-election in February 2018.

In a statement, the Democrat said that while he is grateful and proud of the work he has already done, there is still much more to be done to get Iowa growing again.

He specifically mentioned the need for innovation in schools, and he also expresses concern about the state’s higher education costs.

David is married to Lynette, with whom he has two adorable daughters, Ellie and Anna. For over two decades, the couple has been living happily together.
