Delroy was born in Lewisham, London, England on November 18, 1952. He is currently 67 years old and was born under the sign of Scorpio. He is British by nationality and of mixed ethnicity.

In terms of academic credentials, he attended American Conservatory Theater for his graduation in acting studies, which he accomplished in 1979.

Delroy Lindo- Professional Career

Delroy began his professional acting career in 1976 with his debut film, Find the Lady, in which he played Sam. After three years, he portrayed an Army Sergeant in the film More American Graffiti. He did, however, discontinue his film career and devote his time to stage performing for about ten years.

In 1982, he received his first theatre play, Master Harold and the Boys, written by Athol Fugard. Similarly, in 1988, he received a nomination for the part of Herald Loomis in Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.

After a ten-year hiatus from film, he returned in 1990 with Salute of the Jugger, co-starring Joan Chen and Rutger Hauer.

He appeared in three further films the following year: The Blood of Heroes, Mountain of the Moon, and Bright Angel. Then, in 1991, he was cast in the television series Against the Law as Ben in an episode titled Hoops.

In 1998, he was cast as Matthew Henson, an African-American explorer, in the film Glory & Honor. He was even nominated for a Satellite Award for best actor for his performance in the film.

He began working with Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2007 when he directed the play The Blue Door. He played the ancient seer Bynum in David Lan’s production of Joe Turner at the Young Vic Theatre in London (2010).

His most recent appearance as an actor was in the film Da 5 Bloods, where he played Paul. He even won the Hollywood Critics Association Midseason Award for Best Actor for his performance.
