He was the anchor of WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, New York, as well as a co-anchor of KFSN-TV in Fresno, California, and WKBW-TV in Buffalo. Don was named First Place in Investigative Reporting by the New York State Broadcasters Association in July 1995.

Don pursued his Master’s in Journalism after receiving his Bachelor’s degree in Communications from American University in Washington in 1973. His Buffalo career began at WKBW-TV.

Don worked as an Eyewitness News co-anchor there. Irv Weinstein, his co-anchor, shared his desk. However, Don left Channel 7 in 1987 to take a position as an anchor at KFSN-TV in Fresno, California.

He returned to Buffalo two years later as an anchor at WGRZ-TV. Don relocated once more in 1993 to join WIVB-TV, where he has remained ever since.

He currently co-anchors Channel 4’s 5, 6, and 11 p.m. newscasts. Don’s newscasts have consistently received the highest viewer ratings during his time at WIVB.

Don went off the air in 2017 after being hospitalized. He went to the hospital after breaking a couple of ribs, which caused pneumonia, and he spent some time in intensive care.

Don, fortunately, recovered and had to wait for the doctor’s approval before returning to work.
