Dorothy Tutin made her film debut as Cecily Cardew in the 1952 comedy-drama film The Importance of Being Earnest, a cinematic adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s 1895 play.
She appeared alongside Michael Redgrave, Michael Denison, Edith Evans, Joan Greenwood, Margaret Rutherford, and Miles Malleson in the film.
Dorothy was also nominated for a BAFTA Film Award in 1953 for “Most Promising Newcomer to Film” for this performance.
In the 1972 biographical drama film Savage Messiah, she played Sophie Brzeska (a Polish writer and artistic muse best known for being the companion of the artist Henri Gaudier-Brzeska).
In 1973, she was nominated for a BAFTA Film Award for “Best Actress” for this role.
