He went to St Mary’s Primary School and Graeme College before graduating in 1996.

an honors degree, and a master’s degree in philosophy with a thesis on moral objectivity.
Between 2005 and 2006, he was a Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford,
where he pursued a Ph.D. in moral philosophy under the supervision of Ralph Wedgwood and John Broome.
He was also an Oppenheimer Memorial Trust Scholar.
