Evan Dando – Professional Career

Dando has a successful career.

He formed the Whelps in 1986 with his classmate Ben Deily (on drums) and Jesse Peretz (on bass).

They play punk rock songs together and changed their name to Lemonheads in 1987.

Their debut album is called Laughing All the Way to the Cleaners.

Taang, a local label, has hired me!

The Lemonheads’ albums Hate Your Friends, Creator, and Lick are released.

Dando and Deily share songwriting duties as well as the role of singer until 1989, when the latter departs the band following a European tour in promotion of the album Lick.

He co-starred with Liv Tyler in the 1995 picture Heavy.

As a result, Dando hires drummer David Ryan, with whom he produced the album Lovey, which sells only 30,000 copies.

Dando tries to turn things around by going to Australia to record music with his buddies Nic Dalton and Tom Morgan.

These songs are the foundation of It’s a Shame About Ray, the Lemonheads’ breakthrough album.

The band’s success coincides with a shift toward softer mainstream sounds, abandoning the punk elements of the band’s early years.

The social code that has been the link for over ten years is unraveling in 1996 (with the release of the album “Car Button Cloth”).

It enables Dando to begin a highly sought-after and scarce solo career.

His true debut occurs in 2000, when, free of drug problems such as heroin, which had plagued him for the previous decade, he toured the United States with an acoustic guitar and a bag of covers.

This tour is documented on the album “Live at the Brattle Theater / Griffith Sunset” (2001).

During the same time period, Dando collaborates with James Iha (founder of The Smashing Pumpkins and member of A Perfect Circle) and Melissa Auf Der Maur (ex-Hole, ex-Smashing Pumpkins, author of a solo LP in 2004) on the project Virgins, the recordings of which are unknown.

In 2003, the first proper album of songs is released. “Baby I’m Bore,” created in conjunction with Australian vocalist Ben Lee and featuring guests such as Giant Sand, is an acoustic pop record in which Evan seems to give his all his anxieties and troubles, exorcising his past drug experience and therefore appearing hopeful for the future (the song All My Life is emblematic).

Dando returned to Lemonheads in 2005, performing alongside Karl Alvarez and Bill Stevenson.

They practice creating the Descendents’ rhythm section.

He also embarks on a world tour in support of his new album, which will be released in 2006.

Dando has solo gigs in the United States and Europe in 2015.

Evan, on the other hand, always produces good songs that everyone enjoys.

However, he does not receive any of the awards.
