English poet, author, editor, critic, and naturalist known for Wild Flowers in Britain, An Ingestion of Ice Cream, and other works. He received the 1971 Duff Cooper Prize for a poetry collection entitled Discoveries of Bones and Stones. Geoffrey Grigson was born on March 2, 1905 in England. He was the father of jazz musician Lionel Grigson. He was one of seven sons born to a clergyman. Sadly, five of his brothers were killed in either World War I or World War II.
