She was immensely popular during the 1950s, and her exhibitions traveled the world, shattering attendance records globally. Grandma Moses was born on September 7, 1860 in New York. She was awarded the Women’s National Press Club Trophy by President Harry S. Truman. She produced more than 1600 canvasses across 30 years. She was discovered by engineer and art collector Louis J. Caldor in 1938 when he saw her paintings in the local drug-store window.
