A Katy businessman attends a Katy ISD school board meeting and decides to speak publicly about the first bullying complaints. Greg Barrett, real name Greg Gay, is a businessman from Katy, Texas.

Gay, a father of three,

Spoke about his ordeal when he was 13 at a Katy Independent School District board meeting.

He stated that “he had his head pushed in a urinal, where it busted his lip.”

Barrett claimed he considered suicide after being sent home by school officials.

He was attacked since his name was “Greg Gay” at the time.

In addition, he believes that bullying occurrences at a junior high school outside Houston forty years ago left him despondent.

Greg Gay then changed his name to Greg Barrett.

He told Inside Edition that he felt compelled to speak out after reading horrifying instances of bullied children on social media.

Greg Gay was bullied- A Katy businessman and former Hindt classmate made the first allegations of bullying.

On the platform at a public forum at a board meeting on March 19,

Greg said Superintendent Lance Hindt bullied him when they were both students at a Katy ISD middle school.

He also claims that Lance Hindt, the current superintendent of the district, was one of the pupils that physically assaulted him in seventh grade.

Barrett, who now goes by his mother’s maiden name,

claimed Hindt once forced his head into a urinal and that he was mocked for having the legal last name Gay.

Greg, a businessman, told Inside Edition that he was inspired to speak out after reading about horrific instances of bullied children on social media.

Hindt appeared to giggle but did nothing during a board meeting when the guy voiced his concerns during a Katy ISD meeting with few present.

The acclaimed educator who took over as superintendent in the middle of 2016 issued

a statement the next day claiming he didn’t recall his middle school classmate and that the claim “just isn’t true.”

Barrett is now a wealthy businessman with a close-knit family who receives letters of encouragement from people all over the world.

More than two weeks after Greg Gay, a Hindt businessman,

accused him of serious bullying at a board meeting on March 19, according to Community impact.

On April 2, Katy ISD Superintendent Lance Hindt apologized to KISD employees.

Barrett’s words to the board rapidly went viral, with one video reaching over 1 million views,

and major outlets such as the Washington Post covered the incident.

On March 20, Hindt issued a statement saying that Barrett’s accusations “simply were not accurate”

and that he did not recall him from his youth.

Mr. Barrett was bullied, but he was not a part of it, according to Lance.

Bullying must be stopped. According to Hindt, it was back then and it is still today.

Hindt stated, “he is glad to lead a district that doesn’t back down from dealing with bullying, whether offline or online.”
