Gregory Rousseau is an American football defensive end. He was named the ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2019 during his redshirt freshman season with the University of Miami Hurricanes. In the same year, he was chosen to the All-ACC first team.

During his senior year at Champagnat Catholic, Gregory Rousseau had 10 sacks and 80 tackles. In 2016, he also caught 28 passes for 467 yards and nine touchdowns.  As a senior, he led the team to a state championship. Rousseau redshirted after suffering a season-ending ankle injury in the first two games of his true freshman year in 2018.

Gregory Rousseau was born in Coconut Creek, Florida on April 5, 2000. He is a Haitian immigrant’s son. His father Oskal was a fire truck mechanic, and his mother Anne was a nurse.

Despite being a Florida native, Rousseau said his immediate family spent time in Buffalo. His parents first resided in the New York City area before relocating to Buffalo.

Not only that but his 24-year-old brother Marvin, who works for the coast guard station in Memphis, was born there as well.

Rousseau went to Hialeah, Florida’s Champa Catholic School. He then committed to play college football at the University of Miami.

He began his redshirt freshman year in 2019 as a backup but later became the starter later in the season, demonstrating his talent and demonstrating that he is gifted.

He was named ACC defensive rookie of the year after recording 15.5 sacks that season. He finished second in the country, trailing only Ohio State’s Chase Young (16.5 sacks).

He was named to the First Team All-ACC. Gregory was also named ACC Defensive Rookie of the Year, only the second Hurricane to receive the honor and the first since 2008.
