Many people saw similarities between the cases since both included two young ladies who inexplicably vanished.
Furthermore, the two abduction victims have the same surname.
As a result, people are wondering if Kristin and Elizabeth Smarts are related.

They may share a surname, but their instances are very different.
People who have followed the two girls’ kidnapping cases over the years, however, cannot help but wonder.
The public seemed to be perplexed by their kidnapping.
Kristin Smart’s Case Update
Kristin Smart went missing in 1996 after being kidnapped on or near the California Polytechnic State University campus.
Despite the fact that no remains have ever been discovered, she was proclaimed legally dead in 2002.
It’s still unclear what transpired following her kidnapping after more than two decades.
Furthermore, officials apprehended Paul Flores and charged him with the murder of Kristin Smart.
Flores, they alleged, was with Kristin on the day she vanished.
Despite the fact that his father, Ruben Flores, was charged with only one count of being
an accessory after the fact, he was also prosecuted in relation to Kristin Smart’s disappearance and death.
Paul Flores is said to have left an off-campus party with Kristin Smart the night she went missing.
Throughout the investigation, Paul Flores was a person of great interest.
He eventually became the primary suspect in Kristin’s case and was convicted in 1996 of kidnapping and killing the 19-year-old.

Elizabeth Smart’s case differs from Kristin Smart’s in that it resulted in less tragedy.
Elizabeth Smart, a former kidnapping victim, is now a child safety advocate and an ABC News contributor.
In June 2002, Elizabeth Smart was kidnapped from her home by a man named Brian David Mitchell.
Unlike Kritisn, Elizabeth Smart was discovered alive some months after her disappearance.
She was found nine months later, near her family’s Utah home.
She was in the company of her captor, a pastor, and his wife, Wanda Barzee.
The victim later testified that she had been raped several times. S
he further revealed that anytime she went out with Mitchell and Barzee, they made her wear a full body covering to conceal her identity.
They stayed in the Salt Lake City area of Utah and even went to San Diego.
After Elizabeth Smart’s younger sister described Mitchell’s face and a sketch was made public,
Elizabeth was found with the couple in Sandy, Utah. Elizabeth Smart was allowed to return to her family as a result.
The cases of Elizabeth and Kristin Smart are very different. However, this has not stopped some from attempting to connect the two abduction victims.
