Doria died in 2014 as a result of a neuromuscular ailment. They had no children.

On CNN’s Larry King Live on June 23, 2004, Ron Reagan stated, “I’m an atheist, I can’t get elected to anything because surveys all say that people won’t elect an atheist,” when explaining why he would not run for political office.
