This eighteenth-century soldier, who inspired the famous Minute Man statue that adorns the Old North Bridge in Concord, Massachusetts, is remembered for commanding a unit of Minutemen during the American Revolution. He died in battle at the age of thirty. Isaac Davis was born on February 23, 1745 in Acton, MA. He and Declaration of Independence signer John Hancock were both famous Massachusetts natives of the Revolutionary War era. In late 1774, he was appointed captain of his town’s Minutemen company.
