He and frequent collaborator Nora Bayes married in 1908 but divorced in 1913. They wrote Shine On, Harvest Moon together. He performed in vaudeville. He didn’t actually see a baseball game until 1940 in spite of the fact that he had written the game’s titular song in 1908.
