Jurnee Smollett began her acting career as a child in television sitcoms.

In 1994, she co-starred in the television sitcom “On Our Own,” which aired for a year before being canceled owing to low ratings.

This did not deter her, as she went on to have further opportunities, including a prominent role in the independent film “Eve’s Bayou,” for which she received critical acclaim and a Critic’s Choice Award.

Jussie, like her sister, began his acting career as a child actor in the late 1980s. He had a prominent role in the film “The Mighty Ducks” in 1992, which chronicled the story of a hockey club competing in a youth league, and two years later he had a role in “North.”

The picture was a flop and received a slew of scathing reviews, earning it a reputation as one of the worst films ever made.

After that, he took a long vacation from acting, only appearing in minor roles to stay in touch with the industry.

In 2015, he made his adult acting debut in the series “Empire,” in which he portrayed musician Jamal Lyon.
