Jason Leonard OBE (born 14 August 1968) is a former English rugby union player who won a record-breaking 114 caps for England over the course of his 14-year international career.

He was also a member of the British & Irish Lions squad that won the test series against South Africa during their 1997 tour. Jason was a member of the Lions for three tours, earning five more caps.

In 2002, he received an MBE for services to rugby, which was upgraded to an OBE after England’s Rugby World Cup victory.

In 2014, he was inducted into the World Rugby Hall of Fame.

Leonard has remained a major force in global rugby since his retirement in 2004, where he is actively involved in governance.

He served as President of the Rugby Football Union from 2015 to 2016 and is now Chairman of the British and Irish Lions.

Jason Leonard worked as a carpenter throughout his long career, which spanned both amateur and professional eras.

As a child, he started playing for his hometown club, Barking, and school teams, and as his abilities were recognized, London club Saracens expressed interest in him, and he moved to London in 1989.

He moved to Harlequins after a year with Saracens, where he remained until his professional retirement in May 2004, making 290 appearances for the club.

He held the record for most international appearances by a rugby player until it was broken by George Gregan in 2005.
