JB auditioned for JYP Entertainment in 2009 alongside fellow GOT7 member Jinyoung, and both placed first in the open audition.
His agency developed a duo band called ‘JJ Project’ in May 2012, consisting of JB and Jinyoung, and they debuted with the single album Bounce.
On January 16, 2014, he made his formal debut as a member of the seven-member boy band Got7.
