Joshua Michael Homme, a singer, songwriter, and record producer, was born on May 17, 1973, in Joshua Tree, California, United States.

Growing up in a wealthy family, music was not his first choice; instead, he aspired to be a contractor like his father.

Josh Homme was raised by his parents alongside his older brother Jason.

He revealed that his mother, Irene, was a very listening woman who encouraged her sons to follow their hearts, whereas his paternal grandmother, Camille, was the first woman in North Dakota to fly a plane. His knuckles have her name tattooed on them.

He was inspired to start playing guitar after seeing Carl Perkins in concert when he was a child. Thus, Homme began playing at a young age, and by the age of 12, he was a member of his first band, Autocracy.

Kyuss, his first band, was formed when he was 13 years old. The band remained active until 1996 when it disbanded after four albums and two EPs.
